Extension of the project

In the end of June 2014, the EGP-Guizhou project successfully applied for a project extension until March 2015. This means the project will continue for another six months after the original project end date and will be able to implement more activities within the existing budget.

Although the project has carried out most of the planned activities, the project team still find that more effort can be put to further promote environmental rights and justice both in Guizhou province but also in China as a whole. To do this, EU experiences will be further introduced to the Guizhou way of working and the Guizhou local best practice will be promoted together with EU experiences across the province and China. Added activities include providing the newly-established EDA Centre with technical and managerial support during the first development stage to facilitate a working EDA mechanism, to support and improve legal aid work in Guizhou and promote Guizhou current local best practice through a number of study reports.

The project team looks forward to continue working with and promoting environmental justice issues in the Guizhou Province until March 2015.
